Platforms disagree on what to label (the artist, the album, the track) and on who decides (the artist, the label, or the platform's own detection). This table shows each policy as published, with the date we checked it.

  • Spotify

    Spotify labels artist identities, not songs. An "AI Persona" badge means the artist disclosed that its public identity is an AI-generated photorealistic person; "Likely AI Persona" means Spotify reviewed the profile and decided so. The badge says nothing about how the music was made; separate AI credits in Song Credits come from artists via their distributor. Badges began rolling out from mid-September 2026 and are not yet visible everywhere.

  • Deezer

    Deezer detects fully AI-generated tracks with its own tool and tags albums that contain them with an "AI-generated content" notice. Tagged tracks are excluded from algorithmic and editorial recommendations. Deezer says it will add a setting to remove fully AI-generated music from search before the end of 2026.

  • YouTube Music

    Since October 14, 2026 YouTube Music shows a label on the player for songs created primarily with generative AI. Labels come from partner declarations (Fully, Partly or No Gen AI) and YouTube's own detection signals. There is no setting to hide labelled songs.

  • Apple Music

    Apple Music has asked labels and distributors to tag AI use in artwork, track, composition and music video since March 2026 ("Transparency Tags"), and said the tags will become mandatory. As of the reports we checked, the tags were not visible to listeners; Billboard reports visible "Made With AI" labels are due by the end of 2026.

  • Tidal

    Tidal labels recordings it determines are wholly AI-generated, does not pay royalties on them, and lets listeners turn off AI-labelled recordings in Settings.

  • SoundCloud

    We found no listener-facing AI label on SoundCloud. Its policy bars AI content that impersonates artists or clones their voices, and it says it does not train generative AI on artists' music without consent.
