AI labels on TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook
TikTok, YouTube and Meta's apps each have their own AI label, set by the creator or by the platform. This is what each one showed on the act's own videos when we opened them logged out, kept apart from the six streaming platforms.
The three labels

- “Creator labeled as AI-generated” The creator turned the label on for a video that is completely generated or significantly edited with AI.
- “AI-generated” TikTok applied it automatically, for example from TikTok AI effects or Content Credentials (C2PA) attached to the upload. The creator cannot remove it.
- “Contains AI-generated media” Shown under the caption. TikTok's help page does not use this wording or say what triggers it; it describes only "Creator labeled as AI-generated" (turned on by the creator) and an automatic "AI-generated" label (TikTok AI effects or Content Credentials).
- Where
- On the video, under the caption and account name.

- “Made with AI” The video was meaningfully altered or synthetically generated with AI: the creator disclosed it in YouTube Studio, YouTube applied it, or Content Credentials say the whole video was made with AI.

What a platform showed when we looked, not a verdict of ours: each artist's own file says what is known and who said it. “No label seen” covers only the videos we opened; labels are set per video, and platforms add and remove them. Meta's apps mostly need a login, so those rows stay “Not checked” unless a public page shows the label.
