How Spotify labels AI music

Spotify labels artist identities, not songs. An "AI Persona" badge means the artist disclosed that its public identity is an AI-generated photorealistic person; "Likely AI Persona" means Spotify reviewed the profile and decided so. The badge says nothing about how the music was made; separate AI credits in Song Credits come from artists via their distributor. Badges began rolling out from mid-September 2026 and are not yet visible everywhere.

The labels

  • “AI Persona”

The artist self-disclosed in Spotify for Artists that its public identity is AI-generated.

On the artist · decided by the artist or creator · since Sep 2026 · support.spotify.com, checked Oct 22, 2026

  • “Likely AI Persona”

Spotify reviewed the profile and determined its name and imagery represent an AI-generated identity. Artists can confirm or appeal.

On the artist · decided by Spotify itself · since Sep 2026 · support.spotify.com, checked Oct 22, 2026

  • “AI credits (Song Credits)”

Artist-supplied credits saying which parts (vocals, lyrics, production) used AI. Absence of a credit does not mean no AI was used.

Can you hide or block AI music on Spotify?

Not with a built-in setting.

  1. There is no switch to hide AI music. AI Persona artists are left out of editorial and personalised recommendations unless you follow them.
  2. Spotify says listeners will be able to report profiles they believe are AI Personas in the coming months.
